In 2007, the German seal of approval DGNB was developed for office and administration building by the German Sustainable Building Council and the then Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS).
The certification was first applied in 2008.
In recent years the seal has been extended to include various types of use and updated in accordance with the developments in energy policy and standardisation.
Anke Koch has been involved in system development since 2009.
The building is evaluated according to 5 criteria:
Sociocultural and functional quality
Location quality (without influence on the evaluation)
Certification is awarded in Platin, Gold, Silver and Bronze.
